Coal Mining and the people of Aspatria, Cumberland

The Brayton Domain Colliery Company was formed in 1822, by Joseph Harris,  and over a period of some 120 years his family operated several pits in the Aspatria area. This site provides an insight into the people who worked – and lost their lives in the pits at Aspatria.
