Obituary – West Cumberland Times, 22 April 1891

Death of Mr George Johnston, Aspatria.

Another well-known Aspatria gentleman crossed the bourne whence no traveller returns.  This is Mr George Johnston of Croft House, who from boyhood has been connected with No’s. 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the Brayton Domain Collieries, and for several years has filled the post of manager, under the late Mr Joseph Harris and the present proprietor of the collieries, Mr Joseph Harris, Calthwaite Hall.  Mrs Johnston pre-deceased her husband about two ago, and the family, of three daughters and four sons, have the heartfelt sympathy of the whole neighbourhood in their heavy bereavement.  Mr Johnston has passed the allotted three-score years.
